With our emphasis on Eco Church this year in Lent you may feel that we are overlooking the more usual subjects of Lent. Try this poem to remind yourself . . .
A True Lent by
Robert Herrick (1591–1674)
IS this a fast,—to keep
The larder lean,
And clean
From fat of veals and sheep?
Is it to quit the dish
Of flesh, yet still
To fill
The platter high with fish?
Is it to fast an hour,
Or ragg’d to go,
Or show
A downcast look, and sour?
No! ’t is a fast to dole
Thy sheaf of wheat,
And meat,
Unto the hungry soul.
It is to fast from strife,
From old debate
And hate,—
To circumcise thy life.

Good game . . . !
Sun 7 Feb @ 19.26
Since next Sunday is Valentine's Day it would be great to see how creative people can get with hearts - small, big or somewhere in-between. It could be made out of twigs, ketchup on your dinner, the laundry, painted, printed, drawn, sewn or whatever inspires you or is to hand! As you do it - remember the most important love is God's love for you. Photos of any hearts (with you if you want or not!) please to Helen by close of Thursday at the latest and the earlier the better! You can't be too old or too young to take part!
Thank you

We are invited to pray through February and ongoing for those who are suffering from the illness at 6pm each day.
Gracious God,
as we remember before you the thousands who have died,
surround us and all who mourn with your strong compassion.
Be gentle with us in our grief,
protect us from despair,
and give us grace to persevere
and face the future with hope
in Jesus Christ our risen Lord.
Amen.
KINGSTON VOLUNTARY AIDED CHURCH OF ENGLAND SECONDARY SCHOOL -

There are plans for a new Voluntary Aided Church of England Secondary School for pupils aged 11 – 16 which is a very exciting local new development for Kingston. There
is an identified need for additional secondary school places in the Borough and currently no
Church of England secondary provision choice for parents and pupils in this area. The matter is now out for consultation which will inform a report which will go to Kingston Council in March for their final approval. Support for the proposal to date has been very strong but additional positive responses to this final consultation would be much appreciated.
The process so far has been:
- Bid submitted February 2019
- Bid approved by Department for Education February 2020
- Site identified adjacent to Kingsmeadow Stadium, Goodchild Way, Kingston Rd, KT1 3PB
- Feasibility studies, ground studies and initial design work took place during summer and
autumn 2020
- The school will cost approximately £26 million of which 90% will be met by grant and 10%
by the Royal Borough of Kingston
- The school will be built by the DfE
- Of the 180 places allocated each year120 will be Open places and up to 60 as Foundation
places (with those meeting a faith criteria getting priority)
- The school will have a link with an existing SDBE secondary school
- The school is planning to open in September 2024 with its initial intake of 180 pupils
- The school will have a Specialist Resource Provision for up to 20 pupils with social
communication needs (autism).
The Bishop of Kingston and other interested parties are encouraging us to respond to the consultation which you can find
HERE
Finally, any interested person or organisation is welcome to attend an online e-presentation about the secondary school, followed by opportunities for questions on:
